The current situation

The load-bearing capacity of cantilever retaining walls largely depends on the corrosion condition of their rear reinforcement. Extensive investigations have shown that corrosion damage significantly reduces deformation capacity.

According to studies conducted by ASTRA, reinforcement was affected by corrosion in approximately 25% of the cases examined. Current methods for assessing the corrosion condition are only applied at specific points, even though damage can vary significantly at a local level.

This can lead to either an overestimation or underestimation of the condition, resulting in either unnecessary, costly repairs or an increased risk of collapse.

TALPA-Inspection's technology

Our technology relies on established electrochemical measurement techniques, including potential field measurement. The method takes advantage of existing drainage pipes and employs a patented process to ensure the electrolytic contact for effective corrosion detection. As a result, corrosion can be identified non-destructively along the construction joint. Check out where TALPA Inspection contributed to the assessment

Installation and data acquisition with minimum impact on logistic and traffic

Data processed by TALPA Analytics algorithms for consistent and reliable corrosion probability risk assignment

Dedicated hardware for non-destructive corrosion inspection of cantilever retaining walls

Dedicated control software for data collection on site
